What else can I do
Posted by: Paul K, 07-Jul 02:19
OK, I work from home, we holiday within the UK, kids walk to school, recycle bottles, tins, card, paper, plastic. Have a compost heap growing with kitchen peelings etc. (when a badger or fox isn't ripping the compost thing apart!)
What else can I do?
Can't afford to replace all my lights with LED bulbs, but that is on the list. Might go form one car to two cars, although one car sitting on the drive not being used is not actually adding to the carbon output I guess.
So what else is potentially posisble? (with little financial outlay! I'm skint!)

How about buying your fruit and veg from local growers?
Also unplug TVs and chargers when not being used so there is as little on "Stand-By" as you can get away with.

You can also buy produce that's not covered in plastic blister packs and cling film.

Another way is to wash your clothes on a lower temperature setting. Instead of washing cotton whites at 60 degrees, use different powder/liquid and wash at 30 or 40. If every did this, it would help greatly.

You can take your used carrier bags with you when you go to the supermarket. Tesco offer green points which go towards money-off coupons if you re use bags. Sounds a good idea and won't cost you anything!

make sure that unwanted clothes, furniture and any other stuff you no longer want is given to charity shops. You could also donate old books to your local hospital or old people's home. Someones junk is another man's treasure!
